Why did you choose to study or intern abroad?
I chose to study abroad in Barcelona to experience cultural immersion in a big city known for its art and rich history. I wanted to be able to practice my Spanish daily with locals but also meet people from all over the world! I also knew I needed to be close to the beach, so a coastal city was a must.
Why IS ONE NEW EXPERIENCE YOU'RE HOPING TO HAVE WHILE ABROAD?
One experience I’m really excited about is going to a Barcelona FC game at Camp Nou! I played soccer growing up, so being able to watch one of the world’s best teams play live is definitely something I have to experience. I love the energy and atmosphere of soccer games, and obviously need to take home a jersey as a souvenir.
What CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING while ABROAD?
I am taking a class called The Documentary Experience, where I will be able to create short documentary pieces that focus on the local culture. I believe in the importance of narrative in human connection and believe digital storytelling is an increasingly valuable skill in today's online world. I also think it will help me document and memorialize some parts of my study abroad experience.
WHAT IS SOMETHING you're passionate and excited about?
I'm very excited about (hopefully) improving my Spanish speaking. I want to become fluent and think the complete language immersion will push my language skills to the next level. I also love trying new things, and I’d love to take a dance class, something like flamenco or salsa, which I would normally never get the chance to do!
