HOW
DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
While studying abroad in Chile I connected with the local community through Bachata and Salsa classes outside of the university. Additionally, I also made sure to spend time with my host mom and sister, both who were super lovely people. I would be able to practice Spanish by listening to Chilean tv shows during dinner time with her, or talking about how both of our days went.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite class while abroad was one that discussed Latin American Culture in the Cinematographic realm. The professor was super kind, patient, passionate about the topic, as well as really loved seeing students grow and dive more into creative aspects of assignments. During and outside the class we watched movies, analyzed them, and then discussed them as a class on what we think the bigger theme is of the movie, and what particular scenes struck us. Highly recommend this course, very excellent, and very interesting learning about all different types of Latin American Movies created by Latin American Directors.
