WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STUDY/INTERN ABROAD?
I chose to study abroad because it has always been a goal in my life. I thrive off of new cultures and experiences. If I decided not to study abroad, I think it would be something I would regret for the rest of my life. There is just something so important about seeking discomfort and living outside of your comfort zone.
I chose to study abroad in Florence, Italy, because of their awesome printmaking program at the art school SRISA. I also have never been to Italy before and thought it would be stupid of me not to study art in one of the most art-historically important countries in the world. There is just so much to do, see, and... eat in Italy, that I just couldn't pass it up!
I am looking forward to learning Italian! I cannot wait until I am able to speak my mind to the locals and get my ideas across coherently. I am also looking forward to having the city inspire my artworks and to just be completely immersed in the culture.
I have actually spent a year abroad in Europe already! I spent my junior year of high school in Germany, so I am conversationally fluent in German. I will actually be heading over to Germany for another semester abroad once my semester in Italy is finished. I have been interested in art for as long as I can remember. It is my passion and I couldn't see myself doing anything else. As far as other hobbies besides art goes: I love to read and consume other forms of stories (movies/TV or podcasts) and I also play the violin.
