what was your favorite class while abroad, and why?
My favorite class abroad was definitely Bad Blood: Rivalries in the History of Art. The city of Florence is an hub for art and history, which made it a perfect location for learning the intense rivalries that shaped art history. We had the amazing opportunity of having field trips almost every week and looking at the paintings in person allowed me to truly appreciate the painting in a much deeper level. The course not only deepened my understanding of art history, but gave me hands-on experience of studying art in its original context which was great for my overall learning experience.
What's one story or important aspect you always share about your time abroad?
Something I always tell people from my time abroad is to immerse themselves in the culture as much as possible. Doing this changed my perspective and allowed me to connect with the city I lived in. Try new foods, try learning the language, talk to the locals, participate in events, learn about the history, all of this will enhance your understanding of the place you are in. People grow so much more when they step out of their comfort zone, and I encourage everyone to do so!
