Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
An international internship typically challenges you with new material as well as a new environment. Despite it being a remote position, as I'll be interning during the pandemic, I'll still be afforded the opportunity to explore my career interests through a unique lens by learning from professionals operating globally.
Why did you choose your study/intern city?
While I was open to placement anywhere that matched my career interests, I definitely had an interest in interning with Latin American companies. As a first generation Mexican American, I appreciate any opportunity to make connections with those cultures and make it necessary to deepen/expand my awareness of them. It would also be beneficial for me to become familiar with the workplace dynamics there. Having a genuine interest in the interpersonal culture of the country I'd be interning in is an important criteria for me to diversify the takeaways from my experience.
What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
The experience will be my first internship in a position entirely new to me... I'm excited to learn from the professionals! I'm in the explorative phase of my career development and am really looking forward to gaining insight that will build my confidence with the decisions I'll make moving forward after graduation.
Fun Fact (hobbies, interests, accomplishment, etc.)?
When I'm not blogging or doing the life and work things, I'm reading, drinking tea, and lazily moving a laser pointer around for my cats. Fun Fact: I love karaoke but sweat at the idea of public speaking, go figure!
