Call for Papers: CEA CAPA Occasional Publication 11: Reviewing the Situation
We are inviting contributions to CEA CAPA’s Occasional Publication 11: “Reviewing the Situation: Changing Landscapes of Education Abroad.”
The intention of this publication is to explore the ways in which the landscapes of education abroad have altered and are altering. As the impact of COVID-19 recedes and challenges to international ideologies increase, this is a timely moment in which to reassess our principles, theories, and practices.
Suggested topic areas
We recognize that this is a very broad field. Without being too prescriptive, we anticipate that contributors might consider one or more of the following issues and their relationship to education abroad:
- Values and ethics
- Sustainability and mobility
- Modes of learning
- STEM and education abroad
- Political challenges, nationalism, and parochialism
- Rhetoric and reality
- Ideological bifurcations
- Political correctness and free speech
- Status of liberal arts and humanities
- Decolonization
The richness of our world is built upon many foundations and, therefore, we invite contributions in these areas and others that may concern you. We also welcome works in progress from less experienced writers. We will offer mentoring advice for authors who would welcome guidance to enable them to bring their works toward completion.
Submission guidelines
When to submit by: The deadline for contributions is Sept. 23, 2023.
Proposed length: Submissions should be between 2,000 and 5,000 words (but we are happy to discuss variations). We are also happy to send technical advice (referencing, footnotes, etc.).
