When staying in a new country, it’s important to find comforting places that you love. In a foreign place, the discovery of one's favorite places can make them feel more at home. Here are a couple of my favorite places in and around Alicante during my summer studying abroad there with CEA.
Plaza 6
A great restaurant for groups with a very friendly staff. The food was amazing and inexpensive.
Borgonesse
A great place for ice cream, crepes, and waffles of all different flavors. An inexpensive place to treat your a sweet tooth. They have a variety of flavors, from fruits to chocolate to mixtures in vanilla. My favorite flavor is cookies on top of a Nutella waffle.
San Juan
San Juan is my favorite beach in Alicante. It’s usually a short train ride away, but well worth it for a quite relaxing space. Great place to lounge with a book or take a dive. There isn’t as much traffic as many of the other beaches.
Algar Waterfalls
A magical place only a bus ride from Alicante. From the beautiful view to the refreshing swim right below waterfalls this place couldn’t be any better. There is also a rock to jump off for anyone feeling adventurous.
Monovar Bodegas
A beautiful winery in the countryside. Go on a tour of the winery and taste wine that's definitely older than you! When you’re done with your tour, chat with the friendly owner and buy some great-tasting wine.
Baker & Co Café
Looking for breakfast or brunch? Then Baker & Co Café is for you. A place to find amazing coffee drinks, bagels and tea. Eat food that looks like it just came out of a magazine.
D’Tablas
A great place for a quick bite and beer. Waiters walk around with different kinds of tapas, and you choose which ones you want. A friendly and cheap place to try tapas, as each one costs only 1 euro.
Goofretti
A quick place to grab a bite to eat or indulge in ice cream right next to San Juan. Get a bubble waffle, crepe, or breakfast to take with you on the go.
La Mas Coketa
A nice, quiet place to find dessert or eat lunch. Enjoy the smiling staff and great food service while drinking a coffee.
La Mary
A wonderful place for groups. Call ahead for a table, because this is a busy place. Three-course meal with a variety of options for only 12 euros.
Mandala Café
A quiet café next to the Mercado. Have a pot of tea, a variety of coffee beverages, or a delicious muffin.
Castillo de Santa Barbara
One of the best views in Alicante. Walk or take a bus to the top and explore the old castil. Enjoy the amazing walk down and view the beauty of the beach and buildings from a bird’s eye view.
