Being a Photography Major in Florence

You might not know that Florence is the center of the art world. It holds some of the most famous art works in all of history. It is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance. Why would an art major choose any other city in Italy but Florence? For me, it is not just about being surrounded by the famous artwork, but how the Florentine people treat me.

 Life

Florentines follow their passion when it comes to their careers. They embrace what they love to do and do it for the rest of their life. They do not give me a weird look when I say that I chose to follow my passion and pursue a BFA in photography. They ask me all sorts of positive questions and will refer me to people and places that might help me in the future.

As a community, they support each other tremendously. I am currently interning at Tethy's Gallery, which is the only serious and professional Fine Arts Photography gallery in Florence. I get to meet all sorts of artists that I can further connect with in the future. If you are an Art Major, I would highly recommend applying to be an intern for CEA in Florence, so you can get the wonderful experience that I am currently receiving.

Haley H. is the Fall 2017 MOJO Photographer and international intern in Florence, Italy. She is currently a Junior studying Photography at University of Arizona.
