Learning My Potential

Studying abroad with CEA has been an incredible experience. I have grown as an individual, future healthcare provider, and as a student. CEA’s slogan is “Learn your potential” has been my motto throughout the past three months. I have done things that I never thought that I would and overcome many fears.
 Expanding Horizons

Become Independent!

This was the first time that I have ever traveled out of the country without my parents. At first, I was very overwhelmed. I could do whatever I wanted! But what did I want to do? I wanted to travel, try new foods, and drink as much coffee as possible. Quickly, I learned that I needed to budget my money and spend my time wisely. Four months sounds like a long time but it goes by so fast! will always be grateful for Costa Rica forcing me to grow up and for all the lessons I learned!

Boost Your Self- Esteem!

Coming abroad has also risen my self-esteem. As I reflect on my experience, I am so proud of myself for all I have accomplished. During my time abroad, I have traveled to four countries, gained firsthand experience in the healthcare field in another country, went on an overnight backpacking trip, learned to surf, swam under waterfalls, and forced myself out of my comfort zone. I would have never had these experiences if I didn't take a chance and come abroad!

Gain A New Perspective!

I now consider myself a global citizen because I have experienced so many new cultures abroad! I have had the opportunity to travel to Panama, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Each country had unique characteristics that have taught me more about the world. I have experienced holidays abroad, such as Independence Day, cultural activities, such as a coffee tour, kayaked in bioluminescent water, and interacted with natives through programs like volunteering in a local hospital!

 Volunteering

Costa Rica has become a part of me. I will carry these experiences with me for the rest of my life. The lessons I learned will influence my future career, decisions, and perspective. I am forever thankful to CEA for helping me learn my potential!
