Since I’ve been in Buenos Aires, the most exciting part of my day is still deciding where I will be eating dinner that night or what restaurant I want to try next. Living in the beautiful neighborhood of Palermo, I only need to walk one block in any direction to find the next trendy, delicious restaurant I want to try. Here's a list of my favorite restaurantsin Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Las Cabras

My roommate and I ate here on our very first night in the city and it was the best welcoming gift we could have asked for. Not only is the restaurant on our block, but it is also an amazing place to try traditional Argentine food for a great price. The dish we ordered is called “El Gran Bife,” and it’s a huge platter that a large steak, french fries with a fried egg on top, grilled peppers and onions, pumpkin mash, rice with vegetables, and provoleta (a traditional Argentine food that is a piece of grilled provolone cheese). Now if that’s not how you say, “Welcome to Buenos Aires” I don’t know how else to do it. We also ordered a “penguino,” which is a large penguin vase that is used to pour wine in Argentine culture.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! Mishiguene serves all Jewish style foods such as shakshuka, falafel, baba ganoush, etc. and it is all prepared so well. In the restaurant they also only play Jewish style music, which makes it feel very authentic inside. For starters, they bring each table a basket of warm homemade challah, a bagel, a jar of sweet pickles, and Dijon mustard. For my meal, I ordered the baba ganoush as an appeteizer, which is made of an eggplant, and it usually comes as a dip served on some kind of plate or in a bowl. At Mishiguene, the baba ganoush comes still on the eggplant and it is the best I have ever had! For my main course I had shakshuka and it was honestly life-changing. I was so full that I couldn’t even order dessert but I know I will be back soon to try the chocolate babka!

This restaurant is a go-to for brunch and lunch—and also as a bakery! Inside the restaurant is decorated so well and they have an even better menu. They have a huge selection from their bakery as well as salads, sandwiches, and smoothies. The egg-avocado toast was way bigger than I expected, but I couldn’t help myself but eat the entire thing. I also got a Nutella chocolate cookie from their bakery and it was to die for. For any chocoholic, you must try!
MOOI

MOOI is another great place for brunch or lunch. They have a huge selection on their menu and everything I’ve had I definitely want to go back to eat again. The first time I went, I was at the location near Parque 3 de Febrero on a beautiful day where two friends and I split their sangria. It had strawberries, kiwi, apples, peaches, oranges and it was so refreshing. It is one of our favorite spots now to go and relax on a nice afternoon and we even discovered a new location two blocks from our apartment!

As great as all of the restaurants are in Buenos Aires, one of my favorite parts of being here is learning how to cook myself. Living in an apartment here, I am on my own for the first time and am teaching myself to cook through many Tasty videos and recipes I find online. I thought it would be much harder than it is but one of my favorite things to do now is just experiment with different foods we have around the apartment. This picture of a meal my roommate and I cooked, is all bought from a small fruit store down the street and only cost us about five U.S. dollars! We made a balsamic vegetable stir-fry with a fried egg on top, and homemade steak fries. I must say, we are quite the chefs!
