Top 9 Things to Know About Alicante

Alicante, on Spain’s gorgeous Costa Blanca, offers sun, sand, and an amazing opportunity to immerse into Spanish life. Make the most of your time abroad! When you’re studying abroad in Alicante, keep these tips in mind:

 Intercambio

1. You're not just visiting here, you're living here—so get involved! Hang out and go places with your host family, get set up with a Language Exchange partner through CEA and the Univesrity of Alicante, volunteer in the community, and more.
 Tram

2. Don't freak out about taking public transportation to the University of Alicante. There's a stop a block from everyone's house, and the #24 line will take you straight to campus.

3. Explore the city! You may get lost at first, but you'll survive...and after two weeks you’ll wonder how you ever get lost in a place as simple and walkable as Alicante.

4. Students here dress differently when they go to class. If you throw on athletic shorts and a baggy t-shirt, you’ll stick out like a sure thumb. (And Alvaro is always snapping pictures, so be prepared around him!)

 Nightlife in El Barrio

5. Water isn't free!

6. Alicante may be the safest place you will ever live. That said, be smart. Don't leave your belongings anywhere without someone watching them—especially electronics!

7. Don't go to Mexican restaurants. You *might* be disappointed with the taste. Seriously.

8. Corte Ingles is more expensive than other supermarkets, but if you’re missing something from home, chances are Corte Ingles has it.

 Tapas

9. Favorite places to eat or hang out in Alicante: Tapa Caña, La Sede, Parabarap, Budha, Restaurante Chino, and Cerveceria Sento.
