Lectures To Life

Being an art major concentrating in photo image making, I have taken my fair share of photography classes throughout my college career. This being said, I have learned a great deal about myself through the photography class I have been taking at the University of Sevilla.

 Learning About Light

Our classes are split pretty evenly three ways: 1. Lecturing on the great masters of photography and how far the technology itself has come in the last 200 years. 2. Spending time outside of the classroom trying to capture the essence of the masters through our own photos.
 Sevilla by Day and Night

Being able to combine these techniques in class work  being able to spend time with the professor outside of class has benefited me greatly. The very talented photographer Annie Leibovitz once said that "the camera gives you the license to travel the world," and after this class and the experiences that I have thus had abroad, I would completely believe this statement. Going to popular places within Sevilla, my professor has taught me to enjoy the touristy things, but to also look past them and capture the unique things that aren't standing there day after day.

I have learned so much about myself through the images that I take and the end products I present to the class. I would have never had this unique opportunity if it weren’t for attending the CEA study abroad program and going to the University of Sevilla. Not to mention this class, among all of my other classes, has helped me tremendously improve my language skills and my confidence when speaking Spanish.
