Company-Wide Initiative to Align Policies, Practices with World Events
Tempe, Ariz. (Aug. 29, 2011) – CEA Global Education is pleased to welcome C. Thomas Whitehouse as the new Director of International Health & Safety. Mr. Whitehouse is part of a company-wide initiative to align CEA's health and safety policies with today's changing world environment.
"Tom brings ideas he's put into practice in environments very similar to CEA and the field of study abroad," said Brian J. Boubek, Chairman and CEO of CEA Global Education, a study abroad provider known for flexible academic models designed to suite both students' and universities' diverse needs. "We're thrilled to have someone of his caliber and background join CEA in connecting students to positive and meaningful study abroad experiences."
Mr. Whitehouse will act in an advisory capacity to an internal Health and Safety Committee comprising top leadership based in Tempe, Arizona and international staff. With more than 40 years of business experience – 15 specifically in international risk management, Mr. Whitehouse will serve as a resource in training and management of student health and safety. In his role at CEA, he'll keep leadership and international staff aware of important developments in the area of international health, safety and security, as well as refine and refresh internal procedures and staff training.
"This past year has taught the study abroad industry the need and value of continual self assessment when it comes to student health and safety," Mr. Boubek said. "Responsible study abroad providers must recognize that value and push themselves to prepare for the unforeseen circumstances that can interrupt students' educational experiences."
