Born from the desire and need to develop concrete opportunities for meaningful student engagement in reflection about culture, identity and awareness, this initiative seeks to provide a platform for students to express and share their experiences, to reflect upon the life-changing results of a successful study abroad program, and to gain experience in analyzing and articulating their experience in a formal, academic and professional context.
The conference will take place at our center on Friday, May 13th, with students, faculty, staff and guests attending.
The call for proposals went out to students on February 17th . Many students submitted session proposals through Christopher Edward's course in Communication & Global Competence; however, we encouraged all students to consider submitting a proposal in one of the three categories:
• Research project delivered in the form of an oral presentation
• Media-based Presentation in the form of film, video or music
• Art Exhibit
CEA Global Education is committed to making the student conference a success and is confident that this event will become an integral element in our campus offerings. This Spring 2011 edition will be the first of many as we plan to sponsor this conference at the conclusion of every Fall and Spring session.
Please check back here next week for more on the first edition of Reflections Abroad: Perspectives on Culture, Identity & Self.
