DESCRIPTION

The first part of the module ? Human Resource Management ? is an introduction to HR activities that concern managers within organizations. It will lay special emphasis on the role of managers in developing the human capital of their teams by taking part in recruiting, compensating, appraising and managing careers of employees. The second part of the course ? Corporate Social Responsibility ? addresses issues of job market regulation, stakeholder theory and corporate governance structures, which govern the ways corporations operate and interact with its stakeholders. The module aims at fostering a critical approach to pro-stakeholder views that often overlook organization science insights, and at building a realistic understanding of the limits and prospects of stakeholder engagement. In this course, 50% of the mark comes from HRM (within which 55% comes from the final exam and 45% comes from continuous assessment) and 50% of the mark comes from CSR (within which 60% comes from the final exam and 40% from continuous assessment).

Please note, this course does require working knowledge of French. While the teaching is in English, students must be able to decipher HR documents in French.
