Whether you're completing a social justice internship in Buenos Aires or a marketing internship for a startup in Barcelona, you can continue to make progress toward your academic degree requirements, too.”

Holistic Experience

“We're specialists in ensuring you have the opportunity to experience life like a local. From living in apartments located in some of the best parts of each city, to weekly social and cultural activities and unique multi-day excursions throughout your host country, CEA CAPA sets you up to make the most of your internship abroad – personally, professionally, and academically.”

Set Yourself Apart

“Fewer than 1% of college students complete an international internship. And compared to 12,300+ university interns, domestic and global, CEA CAPA’s interns demonstrate higher levels of competence in the critical career skills employers are seeking. Equipped with these skills and the elevated access to employment that internships in general will provide, completing a CEA CAPA internship is a compelling way to elevate yourself above the competition.”

Overcome the Pitfall of Underemployment

“Research has uncovered that workers who are underemployed in their first jobs are “five times more likely to remain so after five years …even at the 10-year mark, three-quarters of workers who were underemployed at year five remained underemployed.” Further, underemployed graduates earn about 27% less than graduates obtaining competitive, college-level jobs.”

CEA CAPA Global Internships are unpaid academic experiences where students complete an internship alongside an academic program. Academically-focused international internships take a holistic approach to the placement, often ensuring career development and projects directly related to the student’s broader career interests. Advantages of an unpaid CEA CAPA global internship include academic credit, flexibility in scheduling and hours, competitive skill development, and more.

All standard CEA CAPA global internships are credit-bearing. You will receive credit through the accompanying Global Internship Course (GIC). This will range from 3-6 credits depending on your program location, term, and length. The GIC is designed to help prepare you for your future, whether that means entering the job market or applying to graduate schools, it is through this course that you will be assessed and receive your academic credit.

Once you receive your confirmed academic schedule, you will meet with your host supervisor to establish an agreed upon, balanced work schedule, taking into consideration academic commitments while allowing time for professional engagement and development at the workplace. Semester programs include a break week from the internship placement.

Global internships offer a competitive advantage upon entering the workforce, whether you aim for full employment post-graduation or aspire to secure a higher-level paid internship back in the U.S. During your global internship with CEA CAPA, you will not only learn how to effectively articulate your newfound skills to grad schools and hiring managers but also have the chance to collaborate with and learn from professionals in your host country.

You will be able to engage in meaningful work and build relationships with international references. Depending on the location, you may even develop foreign language knowledge. This hands-on immersion in your field from a global perspective equips you with a unique and valuable outlook and exposes you to diverse working cultures and practices. The experience cultivates a global professional network and instills a global mindset, which can be instrumental for future employment opportunities.
